Joachim von Braun is Distinguished Prof. (em.) for Economic and Technological Change at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at Bonn University, Germany. He served as Co-Chair of the German Bioeconomy Council and is an initiator of the Global Bioeconomy Summits. He is President of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences at the Vatican and member of various Academies (Leopoldina, acatech, Northrhine Westfalia, TWAS, African). von Braun is on the Board of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Crop Trust, Vice President of Welthungerhilfe, and Robert Bosch Foundation. 2020/21 he was Chair of the Scientific Group of the UN Secretary General’s Food Systems Summit. He received his doctoral degree in agricultural economics from the University of Goettingen, Germany.
