Torfi Jóhannesson is leading the Department for Culture and Resources at the Nordic Council of Ministers. Previously, he served as a senior adviser at the NCM, leading the bioeconomy initiatives of the Nordic Council of Ministers, as well as being the Policy Area Coordinator of Bioeconomy for EUs Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Before joining the NCM in Copenhagen, Torfi lived in Iceland and held various positions within academia, regional development and national administration, mostly concerning local innovation policies.  An agronomist by training, he holds a PhD from the University of Copenhagen, DK. He has authored, or contributed to, a range of publications on bioeconomy development and is a board member of the Agricultural University of Iceland.
